  1. The Mindy Project, Parks and Rec and Reign's early renewal.

  2. None surprised me that much.

I know a lot of people were convinced The Mindy Project would be cancelled but its clear Fox love being in business with Mindy, once it got a second season a third seemed a given.

  3. I'm a Reign fan but I really thought I would have to wait till May to find out it's getting renewed. I think Reign's raitings will rais as soon it airs before the canadian verison or at least at the same time.

  4. Airing a day earlier in another country has literally no effect on ratings.

  5. Why the hell is Brooklyn Nine-Nine on this list? It was by far the best new comedy of 2013, and certainly better than Two and half Men, Mom , Millers & New Girl (which all deserve to be here).
    - Parks & Rec was as awesome as usual and gave us one the best comedy-finales in ages. So it warrants an early renewal.
    - I see no reason why The Following was renewed except maybe for the fact that FOX doesn't have many stronger ratings performers than Following (which speaks for the dire situation they are in), though they did cancel Almost Human which had similar ratings.

  6. Reign and The Mindy Project.

  7. The Mindy Project surprised me the most. The Following and Two and a Half Men renewals very also quite surprising, but I also had a tiny feeling they would continue.

  8. The Mindy Project and Reign for sure.

  9. I like the show's humour though! Mindy is very funny :D

  10. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is on this list because it somewhat struggled this season, despite getting so much help from the network. It may (in your opinion) have been better than anything else on TV, but that wasn't reflected in the ratings. Parks & Recreation wasn't renewed because it was "awesome and gave us one of the best comedy-finales in ages", it had good enough ratings and syndication value for the network to be renewed early. It's all about the ratings, not about the creativity or humor of the series! :)

I was surprise The Mindy Project Mom and Parks and Recreation but then again I knew they will got pick up for another season

  12. Reign and The Following surprised me that they were picked up early on. The Mindy Project just surprised me.

  13. Mindy being renewed (early!) over Enlisted, and The Following renewed (early too!) over Almost Human. Those were surprises, can't say I'm really happy about how it all turned out.

  14. Surpised as in I didn't expect that or I would prefer that this particular series got canceled?
If the latter, then The Vampire Dramas.

  15. It depends on what fails2 May 2014 at 13:02

Mindy (well below FOX ratings average) and Good Wife (I tought CBS could cancel 3 fall dramas as usual, and those ones would be Hostages, Mentalist and this), they will cancel just two.

Reasons why some of them didn't surprise me:
    - Reign: surprised me as an early renewal, CW could decide between this and TTP. But once they decided to move TTP to mondays, they favored Reign
    - The Following/Brooklyn Nine-Nine: FOX clearly like those shows and played favouristim, during NFL playoff season, I saw TONS of promos of both, Nine-Nine got the freaking Super Bowl slot, that did not translate into better ratings, but how many promos of Almost Human and Enlisted (except for the premiere week) were shown? Almost zero.

Reign surprised me a lot, but just because it was renewed early as I never believed the show was in true danger, I just thought The CW would wait and eventually choose between The Tomorrow People and Reign.

Aside from that nothing really surprised me, maybe The Mindy Project a bit, but I knew it did well on 18-34, so it wasn't truly that much of a surprise.

  17. reign early renewal was a big surprise for me,but hey once mark favoured #reign publicly it became a sure thing

  18. CSI LV, not because is not a good show but because they keep removing the old cast, and part of the good on the show was it was most of it original cast from the beginning now almost all of the are gone and probably never returning so to me that was surprising.

I get that New Girl is super popular, but I don't get it. I tried watching a few times now and it just seems so dumb

  20. All of the ones mentioned on Fox except The Following.

    ReplyDelete
  21. None of them. Sadly i'm only waiting for One show to be renewed. It's a very slim chance, but i'm keeping hope til it's announced this month. Sigh...SAVE THE TOMORROW PEOPLE!

    ReplyDelete
  22. If New Girl's popular, it's not with viewers with a Nielsen box.

    ReplyDelete
  23. New Girls drop is most surprising and shocking (along with The Following) from 2.9 for the premiere to low 1s at the end of the season. And it looked like the post Super-Bowl slot actually hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm probably going to get flogged for this one, but I'm shocked Sleepy Hollow got renewed, just because of Fox's reputation for cancelling shows that have cult followings.

It does make a difference, because people watch it online rather than waiting a day until it airs

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like the show but for me it is badly placed and i never get to it on DVR

    ReplyDelete
  27. Those people don't have a neilsen box. And even if a small percentage of them do, their number is not significant enough to effect the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Mindy Project. How that got renewed will be a mystery forever.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Following.
No more needs to be said.

How come Two and a Half Men is still on air is BEYOND ME.

  31. I was happily surprised by The Mindy Project's renewal. I love this show and would have been so upset if it were cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's keeping up with New Girl pretty well lately.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I used to watch it but it really is bad now. I literally turned off the tv the last time I tried to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hardly any mention of Enlisted which is sad. IMO I would rather watch Enlisted than B99.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mom - It's very cheesy. The Following - Everyone I know who was all about it last season has jumped ship. Two and a Half Men - Why won't they just let it die!?!?!

The Following and The Mindy Project.

  37. B99, while a great comedy was not a ratings star. Thus why it might be on this list.
Also, as for it being "by far" the best new comedy.
I have to put it on par with The Goldbergs. To me they are 1 & 1A.
Any given week 1 is the best. the other is a close 2nd best.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mindy Project is the biggest shock to me. This reminds me of Whitney.
Everyone thought it sucked, no one watched it, and it still got renewed.
Obviously some backdoor bargaining went on there.
Worst part is, its going into season 3... which means its guaranteed renewal next year for Syndication.
Also, who the hell renewed 2.5 Men? Its NEVER been funny and only got worse after Sheen left. HOW is it still around?

    ReplyDelete
  39. You realize Firefly was TEN years ago now, right? They have had 2 different Presidents for FOX since then. Fringe showed they are willing to push cult shows along longer than their ratings would dictate they stay.
From my experience, they don't cancel anymore "cult" (aka - anything with a sci-fi style element) than any of the other major networks. They even give more time slot shots to them than almost the other 4 combined.
This claim they kill those type of shows goes all the way back to Firefly. ONE show. ONE, 10 years ago, 2 presidents ago.
    Quit living in the past.

  40. I don't expect TTP to get renewed. Numbers don't look good for them. The CW has SPN Bloodlines & The Flash all but written into their line up BEFORE they even look at other pilots, and returning shows. TTP has Reign & The 100 to battle with for the very few spots they have, and its a battle they don't seem to be winning.

    ReplyDelete
  41. There's 4 shows going head to head right now. Reign was already renewed which doesn't count. there's a slot for one, and i'm going with TTP. We'll know by next week where it stands, so i'll keep hope til it's confirmed. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm with you Shannon. Plus I'd like to see any of those other shows score anything better than 0.4 on that Monday slot

    ReplyDelete
  43. Am I the only Mindy fan here?! Lol I love that show I actually stopped watching New Girl but I still turn my tv on for Mindy

    ReplyDelete
  44. I only watch Brooklyn 99 and Reign out of all of these so i have to go with these two. Judging by the comments here i am not missing out much, not watching all the others, lol))

    ReplyDelete
  45. As a dedicated fan (and in this situation totally selfish haha) i'm hoping the 3 shows up against TTP will fail. LOL that's including MY other show Star-Crossed. i like it and all, and wouldn't mind seeing it get another season, but c'mon who we kiddin? haha it's doing worse than TTP AND it's being promoted like some sappy love story, which i for think it's not at all. There's bigger things going on than Emery and Roman and i believe that's the main focus of the show. Sadly people don't see that b/c it's not being promoted as such. Anywho the others that i'm hoping to fail...well i think you already know. lol

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Mindy Project. I mean, how are people still watching this so-called comedy?
