SpoilerTV 2014/15 Pilot Shows - Reviews and Ratings

25 Aug 2014

Hey All,

The Broadcast Networks have been busy sending us screeners for their new Fall shows, and our team is currently busy going through them all. (We hope to get other screeners for the late fall and Mid-Season shows later)

Each show will get a full preview by our nominated writer, however other members of the team have been watching the screeners as they come in and we've been collating their quick snap judgements along with a rating out of 10.

The tables will be updated live as new ratings and reviews come in over the next few hrs, days and weeks.

We'll be getting Screeners from NBC, CBS, CW and FOX. Unfortunately ABC don't currently feel that SpoilerTV Readers are important enough for them to send us screeners to share our opinions with you although some of the team have managed to catch some screeners themselves.

Latest Review Added : 25th August 2014 New Reviews for Stalker and Madam Secretary.

Pilot Shows Summary

Each of our writers was asked to submit a rating of each pilot they watched out of 10. The table below shows the average of all these ratings. Shows with a rating greater than 7.5 is deemed a hit, between 6-7.5 we mark it as "Unsure" and less than an average rating of 6 we deem the show to be a miss.

Reviewer Quick Thoughts

As mentioned we'll be doing a more in-depth preview of each pilot show, however we wanted to give you some quick snap-judgements on each show. Again this table will be updated as and when the screeners arrive and our writers have had the time to watch and rate them.

We hope you enjoy this feature.

  1. My initial favorite is Odyssey, which looks excellent, with beautiful writing and directing. It's cable quality for sure. That's followed by State of Affairs which Katherine Heigl is very impressive in, with an intriguing storyline that has room to grow. Scorpion has a really interesting character combination which I quite enjoyed.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Definitely agree on Madam Secretary (CBS) - Wasn't sure what to expect but the pilot was great, I especially liked Tea Leoni. I also saw The Messengers (CW) which was outstanding and Jane the Virgin (CW) which was actually quite good.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oh, i am so jealous right now. What would i give to watch all the pilots now

    ReplyDelete
  4. Was JtV funny? Did it remind you of Hart of Dixie or not?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Glad Scorpion "did" well, really really enjoyed the pilot, one of my suprisingly must watch for the new season.
Stalker I will give a try cause of the cast,
Hopefully U'll get a chance to watch Jane the virgin! Still don't know why CW picked it up.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I loved scorpion, I was expecting Constantine, Flash or Gotham to beat it but I have a funny feeling scorpion may be my new favourite show

    ReplyDelete
  7. It has its downsides. Can you imagine a 4 month gap between episodes!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. It worse when we had received pilots in May and they don't air until January. That was hell

    ReplyDelete
  9. Fun feature! Getting more excited for shows of which I liked the trailer! :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sometimes the trailer makes it look better than what it is and vice versa.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It must be hard, but still, i am checking this site like every 5 minutes if trailers for Jane, Messengers & iZombie are released, but still nothing and some people are saying that they have seen whole episodes and it sucks for me

Is Stalker midseason or 22 episode show?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Fall show, 13 episodes ordered.

    ReplyDelete
  14. It is a fall show airing Wednesday 10/9c (starting probably at the end of September). Usually that means there are 13 episodes with the possibility of getting a back-9 order (aka 22 episodes) if it does well enough. However, Deadline said that Stalker could be limited (13 eps per season) but CBS hasn't confirmed that.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It was funny, cute and not anywhere near as cheesy as the trailer. There was also semi-legitimate reasoning behind the whole event. I would definitely recommend checking it out, it won't be for everyone but I think a lot of people will enjoy it.

I'm not holding my breathe for Madam Secretary, but I could check it out, after all you never know.
Crossing my fingers to get that Flash screener :)

  17. EuphemiaWonderland27 May 2014 at 13:54

Me too. I'd love to see The Flash pilot even if I had to wait four months.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nice to see State of Affairs with some pretty solid ratings. Stalker too. It seems like Battle Creek is pretty good, I have to say I was turned off by the name. Don't even know what it's about.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Stalker's promo was far more intense than the actual pilot. The pilot wasn't as good as I hoped, but there's enough there to keep me interested.

  20. Pablo Troncoso27 May 2014 at 14:05

Just watched The Mysteries of Laura pilot. My first thought after watching was "they cancelled Revolution for THIS?". Now, to be honest it wasn't horrible, decently acted and it has some good lines and some fleshed out characters, but as a whole it just doesn't work. There was a scene so bad that made me cringe. 4/10

    ReplyDelete
  21. I posted on twitter last night, they could have least ordered a short season of Revolution as time slot fodder, because that's all Laura will end up being. I don't watch revolution, but man to be replaced by Laura is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Interesting, I have high hopes for it for Maggie Q alone. Kevin Williamson is also responsible for one of my favorite movies, Scream. But his works tend to go the way of Ryan Murphy's, because when he gets bored he abandons them and then they just get ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can't wait for "Stalker", "Battle Creek" and "Marry Me". The reviews are great so far and i like it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought I would check out Scorpion after the positive comments here and wow. I absolutely loved Elyes Gabel, fantastic performance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What did you like the most about The Messengers?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes yes, do tell us about The Messengers...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Scorpion was VERY high stakes. However, I felt it was a little difficult to connect with the characters at times. But it was solid.

Stalker felt a little like Criminal Minds, but better imo. Really intense stuff - had multiple different stories going on. Maggie Q was a little weaker than in Nikita, but Dylan McDermott was really good.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'd love to see what people think of Jane the Virgin, because the trailer promised very little (to put it mildly).

    ReplyDelete
  29. Absolutely, which is why I usually wait for reviews. Which makes me love this new feature on SpoilerTV! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Heh, it took me time to figure out why ABC was marked with an X. I hope they change their mind and send you screeners soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. amazed that ABC don't want the best fan site on the net not to help them promote their own shows unless they are so bad they are scared to send them out! ABC had an awful 2013/14 for new shows and you would have thought giving large sites like spoilertv access could only help them.

Congrats on NBC, CW, FOX and CBS sending screeners out.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can you tell us who was your favorite characters in both The Messengers & Jane the Virgin?

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's disappointing when we are trying to paint an accurate picture of fall TV and they are the only channel not to send us the pilots.

However it is more their loss than our gain. Great that the rest sent them though

    ReplyDelete
  34. Battle Creek was a great mix of humour and crime solving. Has some great potential and a nice cast dynamic

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jane in JtV - Gina does an amazing job! All of the characters in The Messengers were fantastic so that's a seriously hard one. If I absolutely had to choose.. ahh, maybe Peter (Joel Courtney)? His character had a great storyline and his acting was superb!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think they are trying to appeal to a new market with "Laura" and it may tick that markets boxes but I don't think it will win overall viewership

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am not usually a fan of political type shows, but credit to Madam Secretary I enjoyed it. The cast have a big part to play on that

    ReplyDelete
  38. The character intro's were great, the action was fast but not so quick you lost track. The casting was perfect. My only complaint is having to wait until next year for the next episode, I have so many questions!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks :) And do they have superpowers or something like this?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm so jealous U watched these pilots. It will be tough to choose which new shows I will watch and which I pile up for summer.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No offense but I don't see any of these procedural conspiracy, Military, CIA shows as hits, they all look played out. Its funny how you have given the CBS shows the best score, all of their shows look like played out procedurals. Battle Creek, Odyssey, Scorpion and Madam Secretary all sound and look awful. Pass.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hey, we're not forcing you to watch them! Some shows appeal to me more than others, which is no different to you. The Big Bang Theory is, in my opinion, terrible, but 20 odd million viewers per episode don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  43. i just watched it and personally though it was awful but some other ppl seem to have liked it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. From the ones reviewed I am only looking forward to Constantine and Marry Me, I will also check out Odyssey. I tend to agree with a lot of Max Conte's reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have watched pretty much every single Pilot we have had so far and I'd agree with pretty much every review so far. We look at each individual show and give our opinion based on the pilot.

We all have different tastes and likes hence we do an average rating to make it fair. It just so happens CBS have a range of good shows this year. However FOX and CW are yet to be reviewed so these may change

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't like the Big Bang Theory either. Just find it odd that CBS are getting such high scores since most of their shows are completely unoriginal and uninspiring. But I respect your opinion and effort, different strokes for different folks.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Glad to hear about The Messengers, I will check that out.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think once you see them for yourself you will understand. The trailers don't show off how different they actually are once you watch them :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Have you seen iZombie or How To Get Away With Murder?

    ReplyDelete
  50. sounds about right!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Scorpion had a really great pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You do know that CBS is not paying us to promote their shows, these are just are honest opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh what I would give to see all of the pilots. I hope some of them have potential to be breakout hits like OUAT, Revenge, 2 Broke Girls, Suburgatory and New Girl and POI were in 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  54. http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/09/battle-creek-detective-drama-from-vince.html

    I really enjoyed it :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have high hopes for iZombie to be a hit. Too bad it is starting in midseason. I am really waiting for some reviews for it

    ReplyDelete
  56. Some of the pilots are definitely have potential to be hits.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I might give some of them a try but I am more into shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Lost, House of Cards, Homeland(last season not so much), Mad Men, The Returned, Penny Dreadful, Arrow, Revenge, Grimm, Orphan Black, True Blood, Da Vinci's Demons, Mindy Project, Modern Family, Suburgatory, The Originals, Black Sails, Sleepy Hollow, Resurrection, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, Masters of Sex, Vikings, Salem, Grey's(first 7 or 8 seasons), Desperate Housewives, Louie, Cougar Town, Brothers and Sisters, Agents of Shield, Dexter, White Queen, Looking, American horror Story, etc. I tend to like more creative and original concepts. Not too into procedurals. But I can understand their appeal.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah of corse I know that, I was not trying to imply that. I just have a different taste in my shows. I respect everyone's opinion on here.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you liked Homeland you may enjoy Odyssey and we have The flash coming soon.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah I think I will give Odyssey a try, could be good. I just hate when all the sudden everyone copies the same concept just because it was successful with Homeland and the Americans.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Babr tell me how could I get a job at STv and join you while watching these pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dream job right now :D

    ReplyDelete
  63. You'll have to contact DarkUFO for that, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Every so often Andy puts out a call for new reviewers, so keep your eyes peeled :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ohh I didn't noticed them. Must watch a bit more closely. Thanks for the advice ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Christopher DeBono27 May 2014 at 17:19

Help, I actually enjoyed Jane the Virgin more then Constantine.
    Am I...Am I under Jane's spell? >.>

    ReplyDelete
  67. Christopher DeBono27 May 2014 at 18:14

Part of me doubts iZombie will be sent out just yet. The pilot is supposed to undergo reshoots due to the casting change.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I haven't seen it yet and have heard the same as Christopher (the pilot won't be available until they have recast / re-filmed).

    ReplyDelete
  69. Pablo Troncoso27 May 2014 at 18:22

Marry Me was pretty great; if you watched and loved Happy Endings, Marry Me is surely going to be one of your favorite sitcoms over time (that's how much faith I have on it). The pilot had its share of flaws, but it can be worked out very easily, and everything else was pretty funny

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think you need an exorcism. I do however think in the long run Constantine will be better in the long run

    ReplyDelete
  71. Christopher DeBono27 May 2014 at 18:51

Yeah I think Constantine will improve with time, it tried to do too much in one episode.
I also felt major Supernatural vibes from Constantine so it felt like more of the same in a sense (I believe that's why it didn't 'wow' me). Hopefully after a few episodes it'll carve it's own identity (like the comics did) and it'll stand out more.

    ReplyDelete
  72. exactly what i was hoping and feeling

    ReplyDelete
  73. Marinus January27 May 2014 at 19:14

You should send them comment above to taste the pill :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Could you tell me how was Diogo Morgado in The Messengers? I'm very curious about him after his performance on The Bible.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Marinus January27 May 2014 at 19:28

Definitely Battle Creek, Constantine, Odyssey, The Flash and The Messengers. Will give a try to Scorpion and Stalker though Scorpion reminded me of Chuck. Chuck was great but the same stuff with Scorpiop... by watching the promo I can't really decide wheather Scorpion is more of a comedy or human drama with a lot of fun and action.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance. He gave off the right amount of mystery, swagger and sass for a character simply titled "The Man". I'm really quite excited to see how his character develops and most of that is due to the way Diogo portrayed him.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Scorpion is definitely a drama. I haven't watched Chuck but I am sure Scorpion is nothing like it.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I realized that I come off a little aggressive, I apologize.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The only thing similar to chuck with scorpion is the male lead. He has that sort of charm. Other than that its a pretty good stand alone show

    ReplyDelete
  80. And the pedigree behind it is just great. I can't wait to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Marinus January27 May 2014 at 20:25

That's nice. The only worry left is whether the stories of each episode will manage to keep up with the level the show sets to portray a genius. I guess will be quite tricky to make it believable with each case to solve. Maybe I ask to much by not having seen yet but would like the show to pretend of being smart.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I am also hoping they can keep the "case of the week" on par with what we saw in the pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This is really eye opening, we all need help http://tiny.cc/6pajgx

    ReplyDelete
  84. I will be checking out a lot of new shows. All the NBC and FOX shows plus The Messengers,The Flash, Battle Creek and The Odd Couple.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I have not clicked the link but I advise anyone not to just in case it is malicious while We get it removed

    ReplyDelete
  86. Now I'm considering 6 shows to watch next season.
    Gotham(for sure)
State of Affairs(probably, pilot looks good, not sure about the later episodes
Stalker(maybe, it's Williamson again and it has the same violence of The Following
Allegiance(probably, The Americans on network TV)
    Odyssey(yes, sounds very interesting)
Scorpion(maybe, definitely more excited about it now)

    ReplyDelete
  87. I agree. Marry Me was so amazing. I had high hopes for this ever since I found out it was from the creators of Happy Endings!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I remember the good ole days when every season, sometimes up to 20 pilots would be leaked early online, and usually one or two pilots that didn't get picked up would find their way online. I remember seeing the Lost pilot early, Night Stalker, Threshold... le sigh. I wish someone would leak Constantine and The Messengers lol.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Still Jane the Virgin doesn't seem like it's going to be that good but I'll try it. The Messengers is what I'm really interested in for midseason CW Pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Not sure about Madam Secretary will have to watch it first. The Messengers was really good and I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the season it's going to be great.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 01:08

I'd suggest iZombie (because it's by the Veronica Mars team) and The Flash (looks like it'll have potential).

    ReplyDelete
  92. Or the scripts! Last year a lot of scripts leaked, and it would actually be pretty cool if it happened again this year.

Not just because it would be like seeing the pilot early but because it's pretty interesting reading a script before you actually see the finished episode. :)

Gor example, the Star-Crossed script was a little different from the final product. IMO it gave off a different vibe.

    ReplyDelete
  93. New shows I'll be checking out:

    Constantine
    The Messengers
    Scorpion
    Stalker
(not sure about these next 3)
    Red Band Society
    Hieroglyph
    Backstrom

I'll be checking out these cable shows that are starting over the next month or 2 as well:

    The Last Ship
    The Strain
    Dominion

    ReplyDelete
  94. Haha me too. When I thought it would be a train wreck...which it sorta was, but I actually enjoyed JtV more than Constantine. Was not expecting that.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It is a Telenovela through and through...and I don't mind. Especially since HoD is taking the fall off. It was a true guilty pleasure.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 03:37

I think it's because JTV was actually...different? It felt fresh for The CW.
It's still a trainwreck but it's outside the box (well...for those who haven't seen the original).

    ReplyDelete
  97. I agree. It is certainly the odd man out on the lineup, but the cast has a certain charm. I couldn't look away.

    ReplyDelete
  98. This is pretty much what I said in my snapshot review.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 03:43

Yeah, the cast is better then the material. I'm thinking it might turn into another HoD. The cast for that are better then the material and it has a cute charm to it. It looks like it might be even cheaper then HoD to produce too.

    ReplyDelete
  100. from what i have read the Messengers sounds like a cross between Heroes/The 4400 and Revolution, how would u best describe it?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Scorpion surprised me in every possible way! Initially I was hoping it wouldn't get picked up as I prefered another pilot (Red Zone), but Scorpion has won me over. The pilot was fact-paced, the characters are interesting and I am hoping they can keep up with the high stakes of the pilot.
Allegiance was slower, but gets better near the end. Will be interesting to see where the show goes next.
Battle Creek has great lead actors (Winters and Duhamel are good) and it seems to have a bit of a lighter tone. It was funny at times, which I enjoyed. Definitely liked the balance between humour and drama.

There are a few others I have yet to watch, so I will comment on them later.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 09:43

    Jane is on the rise!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Seeing how happy you seem about JtV i wish i could watch it NOW

    ReplyDelete
  104. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 12:08

Haha, it's become a weird standout to me.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Don´t you want to send it to another person who is impatiently waiting for it´s premiere? haha

    ReplyDelete
  106. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 12:45

And ruin the surprise? Never :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. Then i guess i will have to wait. Seeing all the comments it seems like everybody has a chance to see pilots :( I wish CW would at least release 3-4 minutes trailers for all it´s new shows

    ReplyDelete
  108. It was kinda mesmerizing at time, but I am not gonna give into her spell.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Battle Creek didn't interest me as much as Stalker and Scorpion. I have only seen half the episode of Battle Creek, but I found myself bored at times.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I agree, I liked it best among the 3 new NBC fall comedies, and I've never seen Happy Endings.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Which is exactly what happened with The Messengers' screener, the 2nd episode won't air until Feb/March. I really hope we get screener for more episodes when they begin production.

Same with Allegiance and Odyssey, but I haven't watched them yet.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Letter grades on the pilots I've watched:
    Battle Creek: A
    The McCarthys: B+
    Marry Me: A-
    State of Affairs: C
    Allegiance: B
    The Odd Couple: B-

    ReplyDelete
  113. How did you guys get to see The Messengers pilot? The screener for that hasn't been sent out to the press.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 17:18

It was sent out a day or 2 ago. Roughly the same time the first look video was released.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Did it come with The Flash and Jane the Virgin? How did you get to see it from all the way in Australia?

    ReplyDelete
  116. If you want to watch pilots earlier do you have to be part of a team on sites like this or how do you all have access to pilots?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Christopher DeBono28 May 2014 at 17:32

I haven't seen it, but some of the other SpoilerTV admins/staff have. I just missed out on The Messsengers but I got to see Jane The Virgin (limited numbers of each available). The Flash and iZombie haven't been released yet. Jane came out first for the CW screeners with The Messengers a few hours later.

I assume Flash + iZombie will be released together after the iZombie re-shoots are done.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Surprised about the many negative reviews of The Messenger, I was expecting it to be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  119. it is awesome in my opinion, it feels more like a CBS show like under the dome or jericho than a CW show tho no love triangles or anything

    ReplyDelete
  120. The problem is, I went into messengers totally blind to what it was about and it totally confuses you and doesn't explain what it is about or what is happening

    ReplyDelete
  121. The Messengers: B+

    ReplyDelete
  122. We are sent screeners as a site/press and only nominated reviewers get to see the pilots. Not all team members get to see the pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Pablo Troncoso28 May 2014 at 19:18

Letters Grade to the new shows I've watched so far:
    A to Z: B-
    Marry Me: B+
    The Mysteries of Laura: C-
The Odyssey: TBD (Haven't seen the pilot yet, will do soon)

    ReplyDelete
  124. I don't get how anyone can say anything bad about The Messengers it was a really great Pilot and I can't wait to see the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Marry Me really is great, I laughed throughout and really enjoyed the leads - didn't see Constantine so I can't comment there. Odyssey is one that surprised me, it's not my typical taste in television, but it really kept me interested. The past few years the shows I've watched on the main 4 networks have really dwindled (nearly everything I watch is on cable; FX, HBO or AMC), so it's actually been good to check out a few pilots this way. Battle Creek seems to be getting a lot of love but honestly it came off as a totally dry and sometimes cheesy procedural to me.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Seems I'm alone in how much I didn't enjoy Battle Creek. Glad I didn't have to write the full review for that one because it wouldn't have been pretty lol. And I had such high hopes since it came from Vince Gilligan. I can see how some enjoyed it I guess, but it felt like a bad 90s cop drama to me. The comedy was forced and over-the-top, Duhamel is far from a great dramatic actor, and there were no real personal stakes to keep me interested at all. I didn't take anything away from the characters except a barrage of cliches. Like Scorpion, there are easily identifiable leads and then a supporting 'team' of odd-balls (AKA the formula on every other CBS procedural). Maybe it'll get into it's groove, but I won't be sticking around to find out.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I know it's asking for a lot, but when I think of great pilots I think of Alias, Mad Men, Buffy, Lost, The Sopranos - episodes that immediately thrust you into their characters world, didn't let up for an hour and felt like an open-ended movie that you couldn't wait to see the sequel for. Odyssey is not what I typically go for, but it at least made me care to see what happened next and really got me into a few characters shoes. The Battle Creek and Scorpion pilots felt like random story-of-the-week episodes that could fall in anywhere in a forgettable series' 10 season run.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I thought it was pretty meh as well. I got far more invested in Stalker and Scorpion.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Got my hand on some ABC screeners. The Whispers is really interesting, gonna give it a few episodes. Manhattan Love Story is decent, I was hoping it'd be better. Gonna watch the rest later.

My goodness! Just by that I will give her a try. Go, JTV, go, girl! )))

  134. When are you going to post a scoreboard so that we can vote which shows will get renewed/cancelled in 2014/2015?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Probably around July time.

With all that I'm hearing about JtV I'm starting to get a little curious. I just missed out on the screener for the Messengers. I wish it wasn't mid season. January's so far away.

I am all for The Strain. Highly anticipated but worries me a bit whether the show would be able to flash itself out considering so much plots of the end of the days and apocalypse themes latly on TV. Probably it will be compared to The Walking Dead a lot. Dominion is kinda strange but will give it a try.

  138. Heard great stuff about Stalker, wish I had checked that one out. Madam Secretary was also actually quite just, again just not my typical cup of tea.

JTV is surprisingly good. It's cute and sweet, but not a teen drama. If your interested at all in HoD then you'll probably like it. The shows seem like they'll appeal to the same kind of crowds (with Jane having more appeal in some markets).

The cast is what makes JTV though. They all clicked and have chemistry.

Considering I'm a comic reader, am I allowed to answer questions like this? Or do I need to leave it to the reviewer to the post their preview?

  141. The Messengers was intriguing, the episode kinda ended on a cliffhanger.

  143. I'm excited to check out The Strain on FX this summer, and a few of the Fox pilots looks like they've got potential too (Gracepoint mostly, and maybe Gotham). I also have high hopes for Mulaney because I enjoy his stand-up and writing, and co-star Nasim Pedrad is great on SNL. Bad Judge I liked if only for Kate Walsh (I'll have a full preview up for that one in a bit).

  145. The Flash screener has been sent to various sites, but it hasn't made it's way to SpoilerTV HQ yet.

    ReplyDelete
  146. The Flash hasn't been sent to us yet. Waiting for it to arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  147. A to Z looks like a Ted and Mother.

    ReplyDelete
  148. That is so strange because I got my CW screeners yesterday which included The Flash and Jane the Virgin. The Messengers screeners weren't sent out so I'm wondering how you guys saw it.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Still waiting for your Flash comments and scores! ~_~

    ReplyDelete
  150. And we are still waiting for the screener to arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ohhh I thought it's already there as it's listed. Waiting sucks. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  152. I hope that the reviews on The Flash will be objective, I don't want to get hyped up about something to then be let down

    ReplyDelete
  153. Yeah, definitely. We try our best to remain objective.

    ReplyDelete
  154. "Coming Soon" means we haven't received the screener for that show yet. Yeah, I hate waiting for The Flash screener, been looking forward to it the most.

    ReplyDelete
  155. that's good to hear, take your time after watching and don't let the fit of awesomeness you'll probably feel win you over ^^
Can't wait for the reviews :)

    ReplyDelete
  156. Okay. I believe the pilot will be quite good. Love the story, love the cast. When do you expect to have it?

    ReplyDelete
  157. The Messengers is a mid-season show? I hope it does well in its spot. :/

    ReplyDelete
  158. Yeah whenever Williamson leaves a show the show really does get bad (from the 2 experiences I've had - not naming names....).

  159. Pablo Troncoso30 May 2014 at 11:40

It's different, but it does have a touch of HIMYM, the romantic guy who believes in destiny and the girl who is way more down to Earth. It has its own elements, but I felt like it was very similar at times

    ReplyDelete
  160. A little overwhelming to read but awesome post thanks....

sssssoooooo if we started a pool...how much would it take to convince you guys to upload the screeners to a sooper secret site where we could watch too. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  161. Finally received The Flash screener, can't wait to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Just received it. Ratings shoot be arriving in the chart soon.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I've heard it's really good and I can't wait to watch it. I doubt we'll get to see that much of Oliver in the Pilot since he's just making a short cameo but I think we'll be seeing a lot more in future episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Can't wait. *-*

    ReplyDelete
  165. I am OK with Oliver crossing over to The Flash, but I hope the don't cross Barry over to Arrow. I essentially want Arrow to remain a superpower-free zone.

    ReplyDelete
  166. They're now in the same universe though so I'm guessing it's not a superpower-free zone anymore. I guess we'll see what happens.

    ReplyDelete
  167. If only it was that easy, they are worth the wait :)

    ReplyDelete
  168. it`s great to read what you all think about the new shows, i for one im interest in Jane the Virgen, stalkers, State of Affairs, The Messengers, Gothan and reading your thoughts about all teh otehrs makes it interesting for the rest...

    ReplyDelete
  169. When start the odd couple?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Christopher DeBono31 May 2014 at 07:00

I believe they've mentioned that we'll start to see more and more superpowered beings now. Superpowers are still in the early stages but they're coming. I don't think we'll get any crazy superpowers in Arrow though. The closest I think we'll get is something like Solomon Grundy.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Can't wait to read more reviews of The Flash..

    ReplyDelete
  172. I enjoyed it, dragged a little in the middle but started and ended well. The character mix is great and they all 'fit' well with each other, and there's enough intrigue to hook you in for the next episode too.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Christopher DeBono31 May 2014 at 14:15

I loved it personally. It was the best pilot I've seen in a long while and felt like I was watching a 2 hour movie rather then a 40 minute pilot (rumors suggested the pilot was a condensed version of the thrown out Flash movie script...and I'd believe them now). It didn't feel like a cheap CW show either.

The cast all have chemistry with each other and it gave a hint to many parts of the Flash mythos, ranging from the 1940's to the current New 52. If the rest of the show is as good as the pilot then I could find myself binge watching it again and again.

  174. MS is going to last three episodes. It will get the VERY old demo from 60M - even with football fueled lead-ins a couple of times - demos will switch to SNF, OUAT or FOX. I just don't see the appeal. I don't think people are that excited about a political drama, considering most people are sick and tired of Washington. Now maybe if there is a "Red" character on the show, then it might work.....

    ReplyDelete
  175. It depends on what fails31 May 2014 at 16:41

I am but I'm also a Good Wife fan. People are resilient to political dramas except for Scandal which is a mockery.

But I think it will skew very old and last 13 episodes, football fans and casuals will switch to NBC, young male people to FOX and ABC will draw the women, leaving only old people for CBS.

    ABC being ridiculous.

Topic tagged, want to see some reviews, I'm not much excited for nex season but it always works as a good filter.

  177. The only bad thing about it, if you ask me, was the fact that it ended.

    Pretty much this.
I want more. I want more now. :(

  179. Sounds like I was right about me most likely liking JtV... one of those reviewers that hated it made me wanna watch it so bad with the "With a wannabe 'Pushing Daisies' aesthetic " Also, ironic that it's offensive against Latinos, considering my Mexican boyfriend and both his sisters and kids all think it looks hilarious. That comment HAD to be from a white person, lol.

  183. Either the tv critics on twitter and the folks on neogaf are very pessimistic or this site is very optimistic because a lot of these short reviews seem pretty favorable!
A lot of the comments I've read from people in the industry seem to think while this year's pilot season is a little better than last year, it's still pretty underwhelming.
However I did read on neogaf that Jane the Virgiin wasn't as bad as the trailer portrayed it to be...
Standouts from what I've read are the FOX dramas (especially Red Band Society), nothing too great with the comedies this year except perhaps NBC's Marry Me?

I don't know about other shows but most reviewers have been pretty positive about The Flash

    ReplyDelete
  185. When will you be getting the Gotham Screener? I would love hear what you guys think of it as its the show im looking forward to most.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Yea I read that too, also that it could be even better than Arrow?

    ReplyDelete
  187. I cant wait for Battle Creek and Stalker. However if Scorpion is as good as the critics say it is then I may have to check it out. Fingers crossed that Stalker and Battle Creek are hits

Fox generally sends screeners out in mid to late June.
