-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Star-Crossed” (CW)

———-

-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC remains the network to beat in the Monday overnights, with a 39 percent advantage over No. 2 NBC last night. And NBC is poised for victory in the key young adult demos as long as “The Voice” is on the agenda.

“Dancing With the Stars” on ABC led the evening in households, with a 9.8 rating/15 share from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was right on par from the 9.7/14 one year earlier. And it led into an encore of “Castle” at a dominant 5.2/ 9 at 10 p.m. Competing “The Voice” on NBC scored a 7.1/11 from 8-10 p.m., which dipped by 19 percent from the 8.8/13 on the year-ago evening. And the aforementioned “Blacklist” repeat finished second at 10 p.m. with a 3.5/ 6, which was one-tenth of a rating point ahead of a repeat of “Person of Interest” on CBS (#3: 3.4/ 6).

In time period premiere news, sitcom “Friends With Better Lives” on CBS finished third at 8:30 p.m. with a 4.3/ 7 in the overnights, which was 20 percent below relocated lead-in “2 Broke Girls” (#2: 5.4/ 9 at 8 p.m. with guest star Lindsay Lohan). While “FWBL” dipped by only four percent from year-ago occupant “Rules of Engagement” (4.5/ 7 on 4/15/13), this was down by 16 percent from the 5.1/ 8 for its series debut/preview in the Monday 9 p.m. half-hour on March 31 (out of the series-finale of “How I Met Your Mother).

Next on the eye net was “Mike & Molly” at a 5.3/ 8 at 9 p.m. (#3), which was equal to year-ago occupant “2 Broke Girls,” followed by the season-finale of “Mom” at a 4.9/ 7 (#3) at 9:30 p.m. For a review of season one of worthy “Mom” (‘”Mom,” Broadcast’s Best New Series This Season, Wraps Its Outstanding Freshman Year” by Ed Martin of MediaPost), click on the following: http://tinyurl.com/mqrlfsh

The bottom line for CBS on Monday: If the network does, as expected, move “The Big Bang Theory” to anchor the evening next season, results will dramatically improve for the night. And if it does not, chances are what you see now is what you will get next season (which is respectable, but not outstanding).

Elsewhere, veteran “Bones” on Fox opened with a fourth-place 3.9/ 6 at 8 p.m. Next was diluted sophomore “The Following” at a 3.1/ 5 (#4) at 9 p.m., which was 31 percent below the 4.5/ 7 on the year-ago evening. And last, and very least, was The CW’s paring of dramas “Star-Crossed” (#5: 0.7/ 1), which is unlikely to snag a second season renewal, and relocated “The Tomorrow People” (#5: 0.8/ 1), which was actually 60 percent above year-ago occupant “90210” (#5: 0.5/ 1).

  1. Oh well, for once at least The Tomorrow People isn't in the losers group... Most likely, sadly... only due to a mistake... At least it's written properly this time, and it isn't Beauty and the Beast...

  2. There is hope for TTP after all, I really liked last night episode!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ugh Bones. I honestly thought it would go up without HIMYM; not down.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think that's the first time TTP hasn't been a loser since the premiere. Come on, please get a half-decent demo.

  5. Travis Crincoli15 April 2014 at 14:49

TTP is actually getting alot better, once they got rid of the silly love triangle. Now its actually exciting to watch and is getting better each episode.

  6. He likes Mom A LOT, doesn't he?

  7. Evil Regal BONES15 April 2014 at 14:53

    Bones <3

  8. He has such odd taste! Despite CBS' steady ratings, the reality is that nothing new has taken off in years (TM's is a time slot "hit," Elementary & POI average, 2BG should be doing better). CBS better hope fall produces a hit because a lot of the old reliables could start to slide concurrently

    ReplyDelete
  9. He really DOES.
Almost every monday he had to say something nice about MOM (and expecially for Allison Janney, clearly his favourite actress on the show).

    ReplyDelete
  10. What about Two Broke Girls at 8 p.m. ?

    ReplyDelete
  11. *fingers crossed* The Following and The Tomorrow People.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not on the loser list this week!

    ReplyDelete
  13. They should have left Bones on Friday night..

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just hope the demos didn't falls as much as the HH rating did.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It would be sagging just as much. Once warm weather/DST hits, everything in the 8 p.m. slot sags compared to fall/winter. Bones will likely get another season after next. FOX really doesn't have much to offer - Could FG actually end up as highest ranking last week?

    ReplyDelete
  16. EuphemiaWonderland15 April 2014 at 15:30

My guess is that Star Crossed got a 0.2 and TTP got a 0.4 and that's why it isn't in the losers group.

    ReplyDelete
  17. TTP got a 0.5 last week and was a loser.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Could FG actually end up as highest ranking last week?"

More than likely, which is sad. That's JMO, though.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What do you Think TTP got in the demo?

    ReplyDelete
  20. sixseasonsandamovie15 April 2014 at 15:36

If Friends With Better Lives wasn't a CBS show, Marc Berman would call it a loser.

    ReplyDelete
  21. sixseasonsandamovie15 April 2014 at 15:38

    He is CBS-biased.

That's why he uses household ratings instead of A18-49, since CBS always leads among total viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It is. Just like FOX has foolishly pushed AD to the 730 death slot in favor of Cosmos, which should be airing in the 7-8 slot. Moreover, I bet FOX is probably wishing it hadn't cut AD loose to TBS. Next season is not going to be pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  23. EuphemiaWonderland15 April 2014 at 15:43

Marc is always very random when he selects the winners and losers. Also he considers if a show builds up from it's lead in which TTP did.

    ReplyDelete
  24. On the initial data, it actually performed a lot better than I thought. Only a tick down from last year's entry and only 16% down from a hugely inflated series finale lead-in. Oh, not to mentioned, that it debuted and immediately had a week off in a new timeslot with a weaker lead-in. Haven't watched, but I don't think Berman is off in his early assessment. Let's see what the demos look like.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Also, when a show built from its year-ago occupant, it's usually not listed as a loser.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just hope they don't move Bones so much next season, especially if it's the last one

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, HH ratings do come earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 2 Broke Girls” (#2: 5.4/ 9 at 8 p.m. with guest star Lindsay Lohan)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agreed. Bones has proven to be the network's most versatile and reliable performer. Not to mention, it's the only drama they have that can repeat well.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I believe the table should have a Person of Interest repeat instead of Intelligence.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2 Broke Girls was so good and funny last night all because of Lindsay Lohan. That was Season 1 goodness! Mom was also funny and touching last night.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The maybe you should wait until Noon EDT for the full numbers. Berman is the only one who releases the early HH ratings, which do provide some sort of context based on prior airings/each show's general audience make-up. It's not hard to decipher from these early numbers how things are going to shake out. For example, it's not like DWTS is going to get a 3.0 demo nor will TV get a 2.0. And, yes, he does seem to have been trending more CBS bias over the past few years, probably because those HH are higher than most networks.

  34. 0.4 for TTP. Hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Friends With Better Lives already dropping below 2.0 ...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Eh we can hope for a very unlikely adjust up...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ow 2BG was down, alst night episode was great!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I suspect TV & DWTS both seeped into 10p.m. those half-hour drop-off are far too steep for TBL (R) & Castle (R).

    ReplyDelete
  39. TTP fell. Brightside? At least the CW can say compared to fall, Monday is up....

My question is how does the CW become a true competitor on Monday? Would they really move SPN for the 3rd straight year? I'm not so sure Flash will be the self Starter all proclaim it to be. And I'm not sold the Originals could take Mondays either. And Reign... well how do you even explain Reign's ratings fluxes without playing Fan Excuse Bingo.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Outch for Friends With Better Lives.

    ReplyDelete
  41. EuphemiaWonderland15 April 2014 at 16:57

Flash and Supernatural that's how they should fix Mondays.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think he classifies it based on the HH numbers which are the only ones available when he writes his summary. It sometimes leads to ridiculous winner/loser classifications, because HH numbers are even less indicative of the A18-49 demo numbers than overall viewers. If the HH number is lower than the previous week but the demo number is higher, the show is obviously a winner, not a loser, but that's lost on Berman apparently.

Taking into account retention does make sense, but again, it's the retention in terms of HH numbers so it doesn't necessarily mean much.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 0.4 for TTP... I wish it would adjust up, but aren't exactly counting on it. It probably needs a 0.5 in every remaining episode til the end of the season to have a fighting chance.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yep,once spring, turning the clocks ahead and warm weather arrives all the shows take a dip, that's a given. I'm not too sure Bones will go into a 11th season, its possible but from what Hart and Nathan have said the 10th is it....But, you know, people change their mind as easily as when the wind changes...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Still a 0.4 for TTP, ugh! We gotta do better than that next week. We've had better before, we could do it again. We've had 0.5, and our highest was 0.7! Can we TRY and get back up to a 0.7 before the finale?? If we have to lose Star-Crossed then so be it. If ONE can survive, then i think everyone will be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  46. From now on, every week, i posting on my FB, Save the Tomorrow People! The ONLY problem is, it comes on THE SAME TIME as The Following. and whoever doesn't have DVR, they'll most likely or have chosen The Following over TTP. IF (and that's a big if) IF The Tomorrow People get renewed for a second season, they can't leave it on Mondays at 9pm. it just won't work.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Now I'm sure this is the first and las season of Star Crossed. Yeah I had a little hope that by some miracle we could still have at least, another mid season; but now I know that its not a possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well its the spring already, so it will be hard to get .7 so if they keep it .4 or .5 I think still good.
