CBS ANNOUNCES RENEWALS FOR 18 PRIMETIME SHOWS FOR NEXT SEASON

Combined With Two Previously Announced Renewals, Network Has Now Picked Up 20 Returning Series for 2014-2015

Returning Series Will Include the #1 Drama, #1 Comedy, #1 New Comedy and #1 News Program

CBS, America’s most-watched network, today announced pick-ups for 18 series for next season. Combined with its previously announced pick-ups, CBS has now renewed 20 returning series for the 2014-2015 season, encompassing 17 hours of primetime programming.

“The best way to launch new shows in the fall and throughout the season is to surround them with a strong and stable lineup of successful series,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment. “The shows we’re picking up today cut across every night of the week and feature genre leaders, time-period winners and the most-watched shows on broadcast television.”

The 18 series renewed today comprise 15.5 hours of CBS’s weekly primetime schedule and include nine dramas, five comedies, two reality series and two news programs.

The nine dramas picked up are: NCIS, television’s #1 drama/scripted program for the fifth consecutive year; NCIS: LOS ANGELES, the #2 drama for the fourth straight year; time-period winners Person Of Interest, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods; as well as Criminal Minds, Elementary and the acclaimed drama THE Good Wife.

The renewed comedies are 2 Broke Girls, THE MILLERS, which is the #1 freshman comedy of the 2013-2014 season, MIKE & MOLLY, MOM and the long-running hit Two and a Half Men.

In alternative programming, the Network announced pick-ups for its Emmy Award-winning reality series THE Amazing Race and Undercover Boss.

Finally, in news, CBS will return 60 Minutes, television’s #1 news program for more than four decades, and 48 HOURS, Saturday’s #1 non-sports program.

In addition to these 18 series, CBS yesterday announced a three-year broadcast deal for The Big Bang Theory. Previously, the Network announced two more editions of the reality series SURVIVOR for next season.

Season-to-date, CBS is television’s #1 network in viewers for the 11th time in 12 years, averaging 10.84 million viewers.

  6. Yay NCIS and Five-0!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not a good sign for TCO and The Mentalist.

    What about the mentalist?

    ReplyDelete
  9. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:07

looks like intelligence is done too

    ReplyDelete
  10. What does it mean for the Mentalist :( ?

    ReplyDelete
  11. This totally not a surprise for Intelligence !

    ReplyDelete
  12. Intelligence, TCO, The Mentalist. All done for.

So, all of my shows (other than Intelligence which I don't particularly mind) are renewed. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not yet but it's likely gonna be cancelled at May Upfronts.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Very happy about The Good Wife being renewed. The quality of the show is outstanding.

    ReplyDelete
  15. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:10

I think The mentalist could be a late renew

    ReplyDelete
  16. The Mentalist is now officially on the chopping block.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Good news for you Babar! Both Mom and The Amazing Race are renewed :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:11

perhaps but it will be renew late for a shorter season......is the rating factor or what?

    ReplyDelete
  19. So many dramas renewed and nothing on the Mentalist. Come May, we will know for sure but things are definitely looking bleak for the show.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yay, finally! :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes! The Good Wife! Made my day...

    ReplyDelete
  22. If The Mentalist's ratings don't magically improve massively, it's gone by May...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, the ratings aren't great plus it's one of CBS' older dramas meaning it's a bit more expensive to produce than a new show likely would be. They can probably get equal or better value for their money elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just wanted the one & got it. Congrats Person of Interest.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yay the renew Elementary Person Of Interest Criminal Minds Csi The Good Wife Blue Bloods and Mom Mike and Molly 2 Broke Girls The Millers love these shows hope they renew The Crazy Ones because I love that show too

    ReplyDelete
  26. Knew Elementary would be but very happy to hear The Good Wife was renewed!

    ReplyDelete
  27. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:16

well CBS has no luck in new drama anyway so to keep it safe they should renew it.......anyone know what is consider "good rating"

    ReplyDelete
  28. Didn't know you watch TCO... well, unless the show pulls a surprising comeback in weeks to come, it's probably for the best to prepare for its cancellation :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. Glad to hear about Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory and Mike and Molly, Uhu Uhu.

Now I will watch Mom too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, it's as good as gone. But I can live without it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeahhhhhhhhhh 2 Broke Girls !! The best comedy on CBS!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Happy dance for the Good Wife! Also pleased about Criminal Minds and Hawaii 5-0

    ReplyDelete
  34. So happy about NCIS, NCIS: LA, CSI, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds and Hawaii Five-0! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. The only two CBS shows I care for The Good Wife and Elementary are both renewed, woo!

    ReplyDelete
  36. No surprises at all.

TCO and The Mentalist cancelled and obviously Hostages and Intelligence too

    ReplyDelete
  37. Honestly don't care for any of other returning CBS shows other than BBT, NCIS, PoI & Criminal MInds..so happy all 4 of them were renewed (Person of Interest in particular as it's a personal favorite!).

    ReplyDelete
  38. cancelled most likely

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now that it's renewed I will probably check out Mom.

    ReplyDelete
  40. CBS dont really announce cancellations they just leave shows off the renewed list/new season schedule

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey the ratings aren't that bad compared to 'old' shows like CSI, Criminal Minds..

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think CBS own those shows where as they dont own The Mentalist?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nothing really surprising here, besides TAAHM, but it's likely a final season. Still, happy that NCIS and NCIS: LA have been officially renewed!

    ReplyDelete
  44. So happy that POI, Elementary, 2 Broke Girl & The Millers got renewed. Knew it would happen, but at least its official now.
And wow for three more seasons of TBBT. I am happy, but I hope that in the process of making it last they don't give up on the quality of this show, its one of my favorites!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Criminal Minds is owned by ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Those old shows you mention have better ratings than The Mentalist and make a lot more $$$ for the network.

    ReplyDelete
  47. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:28

The mentalist can still be save if rating go up by May....maybe a shorten season. I don't see it all wrap up by end of this season.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ratings averages for this season:
    Criminal Minds: 2.54
    CSI: 1.92
    Mentalist: 1.52

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hostages has already been cancelled I think.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yesssssss, The Good Wife is finally officially renewed! Best news of the week!
I'm glad that Elementary has been renewed as well, mainly because I'm hoping that Natalie Dormer will return next season. :D The episodes she was in were superb in terms of acting and mythology.
I'm kinda upset about The Mentalist though, I'll miss Simon Baker's smile if it gets cancelled. :( I've never been too impressed with the writing of the show, but I've always liked the cast.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Only watch Person of Interest and Elementary out of these. I guess I'll be enjoying The Crazy Ones while it lasts.

    ReplyDelete
  52. CBS actually has a better average retention rate than other broadcast networks for new shows because they're more selective of what they order.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not officially. But everyone knows it will be canceled.

    ReplyDelete
  54. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 March 2014 at 18:33

I guessing if The Mentalist is gone, it is replaced by a new show which is unlikely to last the season (both intelligence/hostage fail)

    ReplyDelete
  55. All my favourites made the list :D:D:D:D:D

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah, Nina Tassler said at TCA Press Tour that Hostages is one.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So happy for NCIS, NCISLA, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0 & Blue Bloods

    ReplyDelete
  58. Isn't that the line of thinking that got Firefly cancelled in the first place? I use that show specifically because once lots of people started watching it not caring about the cancellation, they loved it. I say watch a show regardless of its ratings!

    ReplyDelete
  59. TAHM was also renewed! Please update the post headline :-)
    http://www.cbs.com/shows/two_and_a_half_men/news/1002119/
" ... The renewed comedies are 2 BROKE GIRLS, THE MILLERS, which is the #1 freshman comedy of the 2013-2014 season, MIKE & MOLLY, MOM and the long-running hit TWO AND A HALF MEN ..."

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yay! Fantastic news! Missing one, but I did expect that. Anyway, congrats to all!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I used to watch shows regardless of its ratings but now I watch so many that I don't want to watch a show that will get cancelled in 8 months.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Actually she said quite the opposite. According to TVLine: “Hostages certainly had its challenges, but we stuck with it and we let the show have its run,” Tassler told TVLine. She then said that she “absolutely” would consider any pitches from the producers for a second run, almost assuredly featuring a new cast and premise (http://tvline.com/2014/01/15/hostages-season-2-renewal-cbs/)
It's not to be delusional, because I know for sure the show will be canceled, but IMO it's not official yet.

    ReplyDelete
  63. YAY for all the comedies and Hawaii Five0 I really wanted two and a half to be the final season tho

    ReplyDelete
  64. I remember that, but she also said they the let the show done (or something similar).

    ReplyDelete
  65. Was expected not to see Intelligence on the list :( and it's the only cbs show I'm watching :/

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yay for Elementary and POI!

    ReplyDelete
  67. And CBS. It's a joint production. ABC passed on it (ha!) and CBS picked it up and they went into a partnership. Same thing happened with Ghost Whisperer. CBS is the distributor.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yeah, anyone who opens the post can see that TAAHM was also renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Next season is most likely TAAHM's final season.

    ReplyDelete
  70. LOVE Hawaii 5-0, Blue Bloods, NCIS LA, Criminal Minds & POI - - YEAH CBS !!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Brandy Danforth13 March 2014 at 18:58

2 BGs & BBT are the only comidies on tv and only CBS shows I watch so I'm happy

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm thrilled for "acclaimed drama The Good Wife"! This series is SO good, it's hard to believe it's done on CBS. I was about to start watch episode 5.13, hopefully the rest of the season will air without too many breaks. I figured it'd be back next season given that they have a lucrative syndication deal across many platforms (or something like that), but those ratings always worried me (it's no NCIS). Eh, CBS can afford a low-rated show that critics and people who know good television (*padding myself on the back*) rave about.

Very happy for Person of Interest too, it seems like a good show, I just have to find time to watch it!

I hope The Crazy Ones makes it to season 2, I'd say it depends on their pilots more than anything, but with the star power involved and the 'wild experiment' that is single-camera comedy, they should give them a second season (and pair TCO with a new single-camera sitcom + air them after a drama with a funny bone like Hawaii Five-O (from what I remember of season 1, they had some humor)).

  73. I am so happy for Hawaii Five-0!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Andy most likely copied the title from somewhere else so he can post quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yay for Person of Interest, Elementary, NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles! Had no doubt that CBS would renew their entire Tuesday night lineup and will probably keep it this way next season until the new NCIS gets picked up and they have an NCIS night lol

    ReplyDelete
  76. Congrats to all the renewed CBS shows! Especially pleased for Hawaii 5-0, NCIS:LA and POI! Just a little sad about The Mentalist, though! Actually started binge watching Mom and it's surprisingly entertaining, so happy it got renewed as well.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Let's wait and see :-)

    ReplyDelete
  78. which is why I said they had obviously been cancelled

    ReplyDelete
  79. YES! Mom Got Renewed :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. My Mom and 2 Broke Girls got renewed, happiest person in the world!

    ReplyDelete
  81. now promote Matt Davis to regular on CSI and I'll watch

    ReplyDelete
  82. Im really happy person of interest and elementary got renewed , Intelligence was good while it lasted as it will now 100% be cancelled , also i can start watching Mom now that's its been renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  83. sixseasonsandamovie13 March 2014 at 20:00

    Great for Good Wife.

This also means that The Mentalist and The Crazy ones are probably gone.

    ReplyDelete
  84. CSI Miami lived 2 seasons in that death slot. The Mentalist will meet the same fate.

    ReplyDelete
  85. So happy for H50!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. The Mentalist ratings improved lately much more than TGW.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Not gonna happen. It's in the death slot, ratings slipping. I called The Mentalist being cancelled this year back in May 2012 when the 2012-13 schedules were announced.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I called The Mentalist being cancelled this year back in May 2012 when the 2012-13 schedules were announced. CSI Miami had two years in the Sunday death slot before cancellation, seemed reasonable that it would happen to The Mentalist too.

    ReplyDelete
  89. THE GOOD WIFE YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yay! All the shows I watch on CBS have been renewed except for The Crazy Ones (and please renew it, please).

Had a feeling this was coming today or tomorrow, but irrationally pissed it came out during class (like always). LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Virginia Fontana13 March 2014 at 21:21

No Mentalist...meeehhhhh. :( Happy about Elementary and Person of Interest though not surprised :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Tomáš Petrík13 March 2014 at 21:40

    Person of Interest...!! Great :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Sorry...but the ONLY reason for THE MENTALIST to not be renewed yet is the fucking fact that it is not owned by CBS and that sucks :( Still hoping they will work something out. This is just not fair :(

    ReplyDelete
  94. And Blue Bloods renews Jamie too??????, because he is totally missing.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Nothing's been decided on Hostages which is a bit annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Rabia Salvatore13 March 2014 at 22:39

H50!! And Big Bang Theory (though at this point I kind of can't stop watching and it's not even that funny anymore). Love Hawaii 50 and the cast. Will catch up on 2 Broke Girls/New Girl over the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Cancelled at TCAs in January.

    ReplyDelete
  98. What about intelligence, unforgettable, and the Mentalist. I love these. And what about NCIS NEW ORLEANS.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I sure hope not. I love this show.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yes! This Is Great News, Love All Of These Shows.

    ReplyDelete
  101. -Intelligence and Hostages are cancelled
    -The Mentalist is cancelled
-Unforgettable is technically a summer show so its renewal isnt likely to be announced with all the fall shows but rather in the summer
-NCIS New Orleans hasnt even been picked up to series yet? You will have to wait till upfronts

    ReplyDelete
  102. its ratinsgs arent great either

    ReplyDelete
  103. They are not bad...better as for The Good wife or Elementary for example...
And you have to keep in mind the day and time of it´s airing...
If we won´t get a 7th season it will be interessting to see how another show will do in that timeslot...

    ReplyDelete
  104. The Mentalist is not cancelled yet!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. The Mentalist should have been the first show renewed. I hope they renew the show. It's the best show on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  106. elementary and 2 broke girls - what a relief!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Unforgettable has already been renewed for a 3rd season. It will start airing on Sunday, 29th June.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Intelligence and the mentalist are not cancelled yet , even though everything signals towards their cancellation that doesn't mean its certain.

    ReplyDelete
  109. When a Monday night show is being outdrawn by Friday night shows, that's never a good thing. It never got past the bad press of being a non-funny Chuck ripoff.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Why are they not giving Intelligence a chance. It is a great show. And so is the Mentalist. I don't understand why they can't give them a chance too. Now that Red John is gone. I am personally glad that Red John is over. I read in Newspaper where I live that NCIS New Orleans is suppose to air some time this month or next to see how the ratings would be if they did a third. I am all for more NCIS. As long as they don't take NCIS away and keep our characters on NCIS.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thanks can't wait to watch. I love unforgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yay on Elementary. Please please please let this mean more Irene/Moriarty.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I'm actually surprise there is no news on TCO. I thought for sure it would be renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Brittany Scarlett Beach16 March 2014 at 08:20

Damn really hoping for Intelligence to be there. I don't think it's that bad.
    Oh well!
