Lost Girl - A Note on Season 5 Casting Scripts

17 Feb 2014

Having just got my hands on the casting scripts for season 5 (cannot share these sorry), I have to say i find them really really odd!
The scenes are all set in the same Fae world as Lost Girl, but with all new characters with no mention or reference to any of the current characters or situations featured on Lost Girl. Not sure if this is a smart way of the producers hiding season 5 plot details (casting scripts for all previous seasons were normal featuring main characters), or there they are introducing ALOT of new characters in season 5 or if this is some kind of Lost Girl spinoff.
There seems to be a plot about a Fae group lead by a new character "Maeve" (could be the new Morrigan) plotting to reclaim the world from humans and no longer live in hiding, co-existing with humans under her own terms, Maeve forces a character called Alice (possibly a code name for Bo) to give her a bloodoath/swear fealty to Maeve in order to save a female human Jo (possibly a code name for Lauren)

  1. They're probably just trying to prevent spoilers from getting out. I wouldn't panic just yet.

  2. Yeah about right way to keep things under wraps and maybe way of pitching off hand ideas to send fans and press fishing for clues for season 5.

  3. It's a casting call for Lost Girl Season 5, right? So it can't be a casting call for a Spin-Off.

  4. perhaps it didnt really read like a Lost Girl episode to me though more like another series set in the Fae world its tone also felt younger more like a teen fae drama and it is odd to be casting before being renewed as well

  5. Don't they also do this on Grey's Anatomy, change all the names

  6. Interesting. Maeve means "she who intoxicates."

  7. If you've read any of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files novels (and I wish they would make a proper Tv series about Dresden, not the half-bothered one where they did one season a few years ago), Maeve (from Irish Folklore and mythology) was Dresden's Fairy Godmother and a nasty piece of work when she wanted to be, she was pretty high up in Queen Mab's court. I see Lost Girl takes a fair few similar ideas from the Dresden Files and I'm guessing the producer is a big fan of the books. Anyway I agree with Simon that it started to loose it's gritty feeling. I'd actually say from around half way of season 3 and obviously all of season 4, it kind of lost it's magic as I started to find certain characters to get a bit annoying and I didn't really feel anything at the end of season 4 (no spoilers).

  8. Sorry, but, Maeve is the title for the Winter Lady. Currently, Molly
Carpenter(Harry Dresden's apprentice) holds that position. Harry
Dresden's Faerie Godmother was the Leanansidhe aka Lea.
Nice to see someone reference Dresden. When I watch this show I think about Dresden a lot and how the show correlates with the books.

They do need to remake The Dresden Files.

  9. Seriously the PTB go wayyyyy out of their way to keep ever little spoiler under wraps. Most LG fans know this so please stop with the BS. If you truly believe that you have been given anything then I
    feel sorry for you Tariq.

  10. OMG! Please be a spin off or a crazy way to hide the season 5 plot from us. I'm seriously worried now...

I've always believed Lost girl has been renewed for season 5 on Showcase (probably early on). They just haven't announced it because the season just started on Syfy, and they probably want to wait and see if Syfy would air season 5. Then they'll announce both renewals at the same time, as they did last year.

I'd probably love a spin off. As long as they don't change our beloved Lost Girl.

This is best way stop Spoilers until Episodes airs

  12. "A crazy way to hide the season 5 plot from us" It's not crazy, other shows do it this way. Grey's Anatomy, for example.

  13. I hope you can get us casting snippets more often.

  14. If it's a "Spin - Off" that's not about the fae's "Top Fugitives" Aife and Lauren (Bo's mother and lover) on the run around the world doing good and fighting evil..........then who cares? 4 EVER, Nobody!!!

  15. Any chance it could be Maeve from the Amazon prison episode in E3? Or just a name recycle from then?

  16. Yeah menage a trois would be better. Less drama, more entertaining, and gets to the...heart of the issue much faster.

  17. I don't in any way think this is a sign for a spin-off as people are speculating, but I am curious to know which character(s) you imagine would cross-over as main(s) for the spin-off to make it work. The Originals is an appropriate and very well done example of a relevant spin-off that enriches the Vampire Diaries World. Moving all the Originals along with super hot Hayley to the lust-filled decadent streets of New Orleans was brilliant IMO. But how do you (the speculators) see a LG spin-off working?

  18. what if its kenzie fighting monsters and kicking ass in valhalla with new badass people

    ReplyDelete
  19. Are these new characters recurring roles?

  20. Someone saw fit to kill Kenzi off and my interest in Valhalla ended with Rayner's death. The only "Spin - Off" I might be interested in 1) wouldn't have Emily Andras as the "Show Runner" (I'd prefer Peter Mohan and/or Michelle Lovrevetta), 2) wouldn't have any of the Lost Girl main cast ie: Anna Silk, Kris Holden - Ried, and the guy who plays "Trick" (excluding Zoie Plamer aka Lauren), 3) be written for a more mature audience than Lost Girl ie less Comedy more Drama, and 4) Valkyries need not apply. Lost Girl "Fugitives" or "OutCast" or "RunAways". This is a Lost Girl "spin - off" I could get behind, fellow poster! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!

  21. No mention if recurring or regular but usually they only cast major roles like Tamsin this early. And they are casting international not local to toronto so all 4 should be large roles,

  22. until they rescue kenzi I want Bo single because i am so tired of lauren so very tired...though i still love me some dyson.Since lauren gets to have three chances at a relationship lets give dyson a second one.But only after they rescue kenzi just like kenzi waited till they rescued bo

    ReplyDelete
  23. well they do need an angel who has the helskoir shoe and they need a person in valhalla/HEL to show kenzi the ropes

    ReplyDelete
  24. I dont think that applies to any of these roles theodore seems to work for Maeve, Ian is a 20 year old evil fae that kill humans and Bianca is a girl hiding some book from Ian

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maeve is probably the new Morrigan and will put a spoke in Bo's way especially because of Lauren's ability to turn fae into humans.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maeve or Mab was in the Sword in the Stone and fought Merlin who killed her by turning into a virus. She is also a fairy queen in Irish legend

  27. They've never had the opportunity to discuss their problems (what happened at the clinic, "Karen", Nadia etc), so there has to be some kind of closure for the writers to have her move onto someone else. Bo pretty much told Dyson in 4x11 that they are through romantically, though not explicitly, so people are just confused as to wtf Bo is feeling about ANYONE >.<

With all the character assassinations, with no hale and kenzie. At least this show had some character with them in it now its circling the drain. No kenzi no show for me!

  29. I can see Jo being Kenzi and not Lauren. Since last we saw Lauren was fine and Kenzi wasn't. That and, don't think Kenzi is in Valhalla. The scene with Tamsin and Dyson before the end scene. Tamsin told Dyson, Kenzi's gone, how I saw it, I think maybe someone took Kenzi or something and Kenzi didn't make it in Valhalla.

  30. I miss the fist few seasons when it was a sort crime/mystery show with a new interesting case each episode. These days they seem to just drag out storylines for ages. Nothing really interesting each episode :L

    ReplyDelete
  31. yeah they would not do that that would ruin all the work they put into seasons 1-4

    ReplyDelete
  32. The last ep of LG was good and sad at the same time

    ReplyDelete
  33. after alot of reading i am convinced that they just called Bo Alice and Lauren Jo and its just casting those 4 new roles for season 4 (Maeve, Ian, Bianca and Theodore ) since there are no casting calls for Alice and Jo

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ksenia Solo ?????????

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kenzie better be a big part of season 5 or bitches i will be pissed, she is like the only reason the show is good otherwise lost girl would have been a one season wonder.
