Last time we checked in with the competition, Castle dominated, Angel succeeded, Scandal crumbled and Alias came up short...
Today sees four shows that are no longer with us (Veronica Mars is technically resurrected, but in film format) as Charmed takes on Veronica Mars whilst Prison Break attempts to conquer Stargate SG-1. It's worth noting that The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Chuck and CSI: NY were the four beaten shows in round one, so all four of these shows have showed that age can conquer youth...
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:

ReplyDeleteHope Prison Break gets quite far in the competition this year, its first season is outstanding.
Stargate gave us so many great seasons,whereas Prison Break got lost starting in its second season...While i enjoy Prison Break,Stargate SG1 consistently gave me more.Great actors,greta Aleins ,and always great storytelling...wish it would come back for another round! and Farscape too!
ReplyDeleteVeronica Mars easily...In the second poll i didn't vote either of them for the first time in this competition, as i haven't watched Stargate SG-1 and i really hate Prison Break even if the first season was great..

ReplyDeleteLoved all four shows when they were on. Chose veronica mars because the movie is coming out and chose SG1 because I can rewatch the whole series whereas prison break I can only rewatch the first few and the ending sucked.

ReplyDeleteNo vote on the second end. I guess I'd go with Prison Break because I never watched Stargate, but I didn't think Prison Break was all that great and Stargate might have been better. I'll leave that to fans.
If you get the chance watch Stargate SG1.it was a great science fiction show with great characters and the Aliens are something! Its a fun show,can't say enough about it!

ReplyDeleteI loved Stargate SG-1, throughout its entire run. I wish it was still on actually, or at least keep making those movies. I also loved Charmed for most of its run, and while the later years lost some of its "shine"' for me, I still liked to watch. I also liked both Prue and Paige.
ReplyDeleteEasiest day of voting for me so far. I got on the Veronica Mars bandwagon late, through this very contest a few years ago but it was a great series. I strongly recommend it to people who like all kinds of shows, mainly because of the strong characters. I like what I have seen of Charmed, but more in a early morning, I'm still up, what's on kind of way. I've never felt compelled to seek it out and watch it.
ReplyDeleteStargate SG-1 was a big family tradition, one of the few times my entire family watched TV together. It holds strong memories for me plus reinvigorated the sci-fi genre on TV. It remains one of my favorite shows of all time.

ReplyDeleteStargate lost its way too but not until the Ori showed up. It had 8 years of great characters and great storytelling before that so it is definitely worth your time. If you like sci fi, I would say that Stargate SG-1 and Farscape should make your to-watch list. Both are excellent.

ReplyDeleteTough one today, it was hard to choose between Charmed and VM, but in the end I went with Charmed because I fell in love with the sisters before I fell in love with VM. Didn't vote in second poll as haven't watched Prison Break or Stargate

ReplyDeleteThis contest got me to watch VM too, and while it had its flaws, I was sad when I got to the end of it. I started watching Charmed years ago and I'm somewhere in the middle of season 4. I intend to finish watching it some day, but no rush. It is a mediocre show with great eye candy. The Charlie's Angels of genre shows.

ReplyDeleteVeronica Mars!! Watched a bit of Charmed but I'm a big VMars fan (as of a few months ago = P). Also voted Stargate though I haven't seen it but out of that and Prison Break I'd rather watch Stargate.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say SG1 lost its way in season 8.
ReplyDeleteAfter Jack left the show and the 2 actors from farscape joined it took a different directions/style. I loved farscape but it took a while to get use to them on stargate. The first few episodes were weird and it was like they were trying to make a new jack but it got way better and the both movies were good. I think of the last couple of seasons as another spin-off, due to the different feel.
Overall; an amazing show that keep produced 10 seasons of quality episodes and 2 movies.

ReplyDeleteno vote on poll 1, but the second was easy, 10 great seasons of SG-1 vs one season for PB, then 2 forgettable ones for me....
ReplyDeleteMy problem wasn't so much the actors but the Ori. They were weak and came across way too heavy handed, like an afterschool special. It went rapidly downhill at that point. I would argue that there were 8 seasons of quality episodes, great movies, and a handful of good episodes in the last seasons.

ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Charmed when Ifirst started watching cause I use to watch Beverly Hills 90210 and was following Shannen Doehrty,and just fell in love with the WHOLE cast!I still watch reruns of both!:)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED CHARMED. I would have voted but apparently it's already over. :( I have all 8 seasons of Charmed! I have watched the Series at least 4 times all the way threw. Every time it's over it breaks my heart! I love that show. And to be honest I wish life was like that sometimes. What a good show! :)

ReplyDeleteWow I'm very happy to see many ended series are doing so well this year. Lost, Firefly, Friends, Buffy, Charmed, X-Files, Stargate SG1, Angel, Fringe. I'd love to see an ended show win this year. But I think Game of Thrones, Supernatural or Hannibal will win.
