  1. Martha's laugh in the end of the video, oh I love that woman!
And didn't I see Temperance Brennan wearing the exact same shirt Alexis is wearing? Well, even though there's a 17-year age difference between the two of them they both look great on it.

  6. Are you implying Brennan is to old to be wearing the same the type shirt?

  7. Did you read what I wrote?

  8. Yes,i did.You seem to make a point about there being a 17 year difference.I was wondering what that point was, that's all.

  9. It still annoys the hell out of me that Alexis would invite someone to live in Castle's home without consulting both Rick and Martha first.

  10. mez mentioned "they both look great on it" in case you missed it

and fashion generally changes with body size which in turn changes with age.. did that make sense :P Yes? Great!!

  11. LoL!! Your funny! No,i didn't miss a word. :)

  12. The point is that even though they're from different generations, one is a young adult the other is a mid-30 married woman with a kid and they both have two different body types, despite all those differences they both look great wearing the same piece of clothes.
So, summing it all up, I'm complimenting both of them.

  13. Oh they are NOT going to like each other at all.

  14. I loved Martha's reaction "Oh he is" to Rick's query.

  15. Castle will need Beckett's ear on this one!

  16. you have never lived with a college kid then

  17. lol I wonder if the writers decided to give Alexis her "rebellious teen phase or something like it" now because it will be harder for Castle since she's a young adult and normally extremely level headed... should be fun

  18. Where did Alexis find that muppet???

    ReplyDelete
  19. Agreed! Alexis doesn't even live at home anymore.Where does she get off doing something like this without speaking to her farther and Martha? She was a responsible person (for her age)..

  20. I didn't read it as he was moving in, so much as he was a stray she brought back from Costa Rica...like temporary crashing.

  21. I said "still" in my post because, in addition to this clip, there was also an article that mentioned this Pi character awhile back that specifically used the phrase "moves into."

  22. Sorry, "still" for me can mean from the time I saw a clip to the time it took me to compose a post. I'm mercurial that way. :-) I hadn't seen the TV guide interview thanks.

I think young people in NYC "crash" more than they "move in" and it is something that Alexis can offer to help a new transient-type boy without thinking of the inconvenience to her father. I mean Martha is an inconvenience and she's permanent. And she will randomly start home businesses. Alexis' mom will just announce she staying. It's not the most considerate, but it isn't outside the boundaries of that age and mindset and location--and the history of Castle's apartment. I had roommates in NYC with friends who'd been crashing for years and it was much smaller than Castle's place.

  23. I see what you're getting at but there are a few significant differences. Martha and Alexis' mom are family. Pi is a stranger. Additionally, the place in question isn't a small apartment populated by young, rent-paying roommates. This is a family home where children aren't typically allowed to make such unilateral decisions.

  24. I don't disagree that it is rude. Alexis isn't a "child" in the authoritative parent traditional sense in that house. They are all pretty much equal in taking liberties. And ex-wives aren't "family" except in really unique circumstances. Rick's got a pretty open home and Alexis has the freedom and authority to make most of her own decisions. I don't think it outside the bounds of the family or Alexis to let a friend come stay at her place for a bit and think of running it by Castle after, rather than before, extending the offer. I feel like there is a "Dad, can Pi stay until he finds a place in the city?" kiss on the cheek moment later in the episode. Maybe I'm wrong and they are trying to set up a wild child arc. But she's in college and it's a familiar storyline. Alexis as a character experiments with traditional storylines and then returns to her more staid self. Pi will be a life moment that she remembers, but wouldn't repeat.

What I worry about is a Castle/Becket story where Becket gets all unnecessarily and unwantedly parental and "Alexis is being rude, she can't do that, it's your house and you're her father, tell her to make him leave" arc. That I wouldn't be able to stand.

  25. His hair!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. I don't think Alexis has it in her to have a wild child arc. It's just too out of character. I do, however, think that at any age she doesn't have license to invite an unknown someone to stay at her parent's house without permission from her parent. That's just a difference of opinion, I guess. Also, how is anyone's biological parent not family except in "really unique circumstances?"

This is something you shouldn't have to worry about. At the beginning of last season, when the Castle/Beckett relationship was just starting, I remember reading an article with Stana Katic saying either she, they (the writers), or both were hoping to avoid that dynamic between Kate and Alexis in the future.

  29. Brennan was wearing that shirt in the season premiere last night :D

  30. Thanks for the reassurance. :-) The ex-wife/Beckett gets shrewish story was almost the end of my watching Castle (I'm really not fond of how putting them together has changed the story focus and characterization). In fact, I am still several episodes behind (I won't say I've quit watching yet, just behind).

The ex is Alexis' family, but she's not Castle's, not anymore. And you are drawing lines about it being his house alone to make decisions on people staying there. In which case relative to Castle, she isn't family. Ex-wives are generally highly unwanted people. On the show they have a pretty friendly relationship so it was okay for her to stay, which is one of the reasons that I don't mind Pi crashing for a bit. But on the Miss Manners side, her making herself at home is way worse than your kid inviting an out of town friend over, IMO.
