Castle - Could be Renewed for 2 Seasons

As ABC’s Castle gears up for its fifth season finale, there is no doubt that the series will be renewed for next season. But I hear ABC is considering giving the quirky procedural starring Nathan Fillion a two-year pickup, which will bring it to seven seasons

    It's the only long-running procedural that ABC has and, from what I can tell, the syndication deal with TNT is doing alright as well. This makes plenty of sense to me, especially since Castle is an ABC Studios production.

    ABC are expected to announce the renewals of Greys, Castle, Revenge, Once, Scandal, The Middle, Modern Family and Shark Tank within the next few days. Also DWTS will be renewed for 1 cycle only.

    Not really a surprise, Castle has been a powerhouse for ABC and giving the writers a little extra breathing room could potential add something interesting.

    Just recently started watching this. I love it and it's better than any crime drama on CBS. However, in my opinion there are very few shows that deserve to last 8 season or more so I hope season 7 will be the last.

    I so hope this is true! The fact that two people from Castle's crew bothered to comment on it is hopeful to me... but of course we cannot be sure until ABC or Andrew Marlowe confirms I guess.

    A renewal is great news, but this would be bloody brilliant. At this stage I could see myself enjoying this for a long time as it is my favourite show, but if they decided 7 was it at least they would have time to fully finish the story they want to tell and we wouldn't be left wondering. To this day I still have unresolved issues with how shows like Gilmore Girls finished. I hope they tell us for sure by the end of the week.

    This would be great news and well-deserved. Marlowe and the writers would have a tremendous amount of freedom and flexibility to create much more "complicated" story arcs, such as - oh, I don't know - Beckett accepting the federal investigator gig, creating a long term separation of Castle and Beckett (maybe for a whole season or longer), presenting simultaneous cases from DC and NY, introducing new romantic interests for both of them, etc. - and eventually, (you'd hope) bringing them back together again. it might almost be like two shows in one.

    And a movie =P I suppose I shouldn't discuss firefly here... but it was only good because they were pushed to the edge and the producers/writers had to make adjustments that made it so Epic - Creativity joy!!!

    Completely agree! Making arcs that last for a longer time than usual to build character - mainly the side cast (not that I dislike Caskett, but it would be made more significant when/how it happens) - FTW!

    Castle should end. It's not Castle i've been watching in season 1 and 2, it's different. Every episode follows the same scheme and this is just painful to watch same thing over and over again.

    Okay I know I'll probably get abuse for this, but I hope they don't get another two seasons. I think one more season would be perfect, otherwise it'll start to decline in quality. I also think that Nathan doesn't particularly want to be there anymore (I won't go into reasons unless someone asks), he wants to be off doing other things, and I really think he might leave/stop caring completely if there's another two seasons.
