With Season Eight closing this Monday at 8/7c, we thought some readers might like a recap of the season so far.
ʓ The eighth season of Bones saw the titular Doctor Brennan on the run after computer super genius Christopher Pelant framed her for the murder of a scientist friend having planted proof that her friend had threatened Christine. The team back at the Jeffersonian meanwhile, were trying to clear her name without contaminating any of the evidence. Not even Booth knew where she was hiding at any given moment. Officially, if Booth had known, he would have had to turn her in so the only person who knew was Angela and she was sworn to secrecy. Luckily for fans, Brennan’s fugitive status only lasted until the end of the episode when they were able to prove that she was innocent (even luckier, Emily Deschanel’s blonde wig was temporary). Pelant was arrested for the crime but due to changes by his own hand to his personal records, he’s claimed to be an Egyptian citizen by Egyptian officials.
ʓ Booth is given a temporary promotion that would have meant more pay and different responsibilities, but ultimately decided that he would rather work in the field than sit behind a desk.
ʓ In Pelant’s return, he terrorizes Angela and Hodgins starting with leaving a corpse in their bedroom and ending with forcing Hodgins to give up his entire fortune to save a group of school girls in Afghanistan. Booth shoots Pelant but that is not the last of the hacker extraordinaire.
ʓ Brennan was shot working late in the lab her assailant attacking her with an ice bullet. He’s arrested and she wakes up having hallucinated talking to her dead mother and the audience learned where her distant demeanor originated from.
ʓ Hodgins and Finn started a new phase of their relationship when the king of lab ate the last of the southern boy’s grandmother’s hot sauce. Hodgins then worked the rest of the episode to find the recipe and they went in with a famous chef to sell their sauce in supermarkets.
ʓ Booth’s mom showed up after 24 years to ask him to be in her wedding.
ɕ Back at home, Brennan had a lot to adjust to having been on the run for three months causing tensions to temporarily mount between her and Booth.
ɕ Sweets broke up with Daisy earlier this year and moved into Booth and Brennan’s until he found a new apartment having given his to Daisy. Not that that keeps Ms. Wick from the lab.
ɕ Cam got together with Arastoo which provides complications as they tried to hide it from the team.
ɕ Cam’s daughter Michelle and Finn continued their relationship after both initially lied to Cam about Michelle being back in town so that they could spend more time together.
Brennan had to deal with the idea that Chrisitne might be an “average” child
¤ This year was the year that Brennan decided she would make a great presidential candidate.
¤ Angela had doubts about still being a true artist until a street artist said her “technique blows”
¤ The season that Brennan tried to “coach” her team
¤ Booth and Brennan ballroom danced
¤ Angela posed as a roller derby babe
¤ Booth was mistaken for a stripper
ʆ Early in the year (8.06) featured an episode talking about how the different characters reacted and in many ways are still reacting to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
ʆ A story was told from the perspective of murder victim
And with all that, Pelant is set to make a return in Monday’s season finale so be sure to watch.
