Hey everyone! I'd just like to say that it is truly an honor to be
writing for Spoilertv and I'm thrilled to have a chance to share my
thoughts and opinions about some of my favorite shows. This is a
great place to meet more fans and get involved in lengthy discussions
and debates over everything about tv!
Anyway,
back to the article and what its all about; ever since the CW aired
the Supernatural Season 7 finale in May, I know that all of us having
been anxiously waiting for news about the new season and what we can
hope to see. After all, ending with a cliffhanger like that was no
easy feat to accomplish and every single one of us has been dying to
know more about Dean stuck in Purgatory for a whole
year! Of course the big question on most fans' minds was - "Where
the heck did Castiel disappear off to at the end?" We have
already been teased with a glimpse of Hell back in
Season 3 when Dean dies after being attacked by Hellhounds and the
majority of the plot-line for both Season 6 and Season 7 dealt
with Purgatory and the souls that have been trapped
there for god knows how many centuries! Fans were shown how
the Leviathans, who were imprisoned in Purgatory for
millenia, were unleashed on Earth and the dangers they presented. In
the end, thanks to Dean and Sam along with help from Castiel, Bobby
(Rest In Peace) and even Crowley, Richard 'Dick' Roman was finally
defeated and everyone lived happily ever after! Wait a minute, this
is Supernatural we're talking about, since when has there been a
season finale which ends with 'happily ever after'?
We
did get to see Dean enjoy an 'apple-pie' life with Lisa and Ben at
the end of season 5 and learned that for a whole year Sam and Bobby
decided not to tell Dean that his younger brother had survived
Lucifer's Cage and was back, albeit without a soul for half a season.
It seems as if this time around the roles have been switched and
while Dean has been MIA so to speak, according to what we know, Sam
has found himself a love interest in the form of Amelia (Guest
Star, Liane Balaban) and once again, a whole year has passed since
Dean and Cas disappeared into Purgatory. With less than a month to go
for Season 8, we were finally treated to a minute long trailer only
days ago and fans across the world rejoiced to see Dean and Sam
finally reunite! But is their reunion going to be all about hugs and
handshakes for the Winchesters?
If
you think about it, 3156000 seconds, 5256000 minutes, 870
hours, 365 days, 52 weeks, 1 year has passed by, won't Dean
think that Sam didn't try hard enough to find him? In Sam's defense,
the younger Winchester had no clue where his brother had vanished to!
Snippets from interviews everywhere have said that Sam has given up
hunting entirely and that probably will have created an itch that
needs to be scratched sooner or later. The good news is that Dean and
Sam will jump back into the world of supernatural occurrences in
episode 1 itself, titled "We Need To Talk About Kevin."
Ring a bell? The title obviously refers to Kevin Tran (Osric Chau)
the Prophet who is the only one capable of reading the mysterious
tablet Dean and Sam recovered from Dick Roman, known as the 'Word of
God.' Now it seems that Kevin isn't the only face we'll be seeing
again. Our very own 'love-to-hate' villain Crowley (Mark Sheppard)
seems to be playing the role of one of the Big Bads this season.
Also, Castiel fans will rejoice to learn that Misha Collins is
reported to have signed on for a minimum of 8 episodes this season
(Confetti it's a parade!) and will return to our tv screens in
episode 2, "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?" scheduled to air on
October 10th, though via flashbacks for the moment.
But
that's not all; one of the other big questions a lot of fans have on
their minds is "How does Dean get out of Purgatory?" and
the answer, my friends, lies with a new character - Benny (Ty Olsson)
who appears to be a *cough* vampire *cough* but the question remains
- is he an ally or an enemy to the Winchesters? And last but not the
least, according to the new promo, Prophet Kevin claims that there is
another tablet, another Word of God which - hold on to your desks
everyone! - seems to have a way of 'closing the Gates of Hell *drum
roll* Forever!' (everyone gasp in unison!) It looks
like the new season of Supernatural promises to have a lot of goodies
in store for us, courtesy of the new showrunner Jeremy Carver. So
stay tuned, "Their fates will be written in stone." New
Season, New Night, Supernatural returns to the CW on Wednesday,
October 3rd.
