Shooting of episode 1.08 concluded last Monday in Annecy, Haute-Savoie. It was a wrap for season 1, which will premiere on November 26 at 9pm (2 episodes each Monday). The 1st season of Les revenants will end on December 17.
Fabrice Gobert, who wrote all 8 episodes and directed episodes 1.01 to 1.04, will also finish editing the show in the next few weeks. "I started on my own, I'll finish on my own. I'm here to make sure it's coherent all the way through."
About the orientation of Les revenants : "Was there a need for a scientific explanation as to why they came back ? I chose not to answer that question and instead go with an intimate approach. This extraordinary thing happens in an ordinary setting amongst a realistic environment. With Emmanuel Carrère, who helped me during the development, we were thinking about Let the Right One In and Six Feet Under much more than The Walking Dead. Some of those dead people will live life more fully than the living."
Véra PeItekian, working in the C+ original series department : "With Les revenants, we try to broaden our horizons. It's a show without cops (Spiral, Braquo), without gangsters (La Commune, Mafiosa, Pigalle la nuit), without sex (Hard, Maison Close, Borgia) - or almost without sex. We're trying a completely new genre with the thrill to continue taking risks."
— Céline Sallette and Guillaume Gouix.
Coming back from a party, Céline Salette's character will be slaughtered with a knife by Guillaume Gouix's character before he starts eating her. But she has more lives than a cat and will come back from that experience. So far it was unknown whether those living dead were craving human flesh, maybe it's an actual spoiler but I don't think they're all like that (the interviews didn't seem to insinuate that), maybe he wants to try because he's seen it in movies (the creator did say pop culture will influence the 'zombies'' reaction to their new condition) or else he's just a good ol' cannibal.
