STORY LINE
Andy is not happy when the self-important DR. LUC turns up at the hospital, and the two are initially at odds over how to treat heart patient CHESTER. Meanwhile, Miranda tries hard to get liver transplant candidate JILL listed for a transplant, and David finds a meeting of the minds in Korean patient SANGEON...

[DR. LUC] Early to mid 30's. A French heart surgeon (with accent) who's just returned to Three Rivers after a few years at an elite Spanish transplant facility, Dr. Luc is charming, talented, obviously accustomed to being the center of attention, and either magnetically confident or merely smarmy (probably both) with his French accent, perfect hair and wide stance. Impressed with the care and humanity at Three Rivers, Dr. Luc has the talent to match his ego, but is more interested in trailblazing than patient care, viewing patients as a laboratory by which he can make his own name in his field. Dr. Luc and Andy initially are at odds over Dr. Luc's desire to treat heart patient Chester with a brand new type of treatment not necessarily in Chester's best interests...GUEST STAR / POSSIBLE RECURRING

[CHESTER] 55, African American, cheerful, optimistic, easy-going, a working/middle class family man whose youngest just left for college, Chester has coronary artery disease and is listed on UNOS for a heart transplant, though he's not very high on the list. In the hospital for some minor chest pains, Chester learns from Dr. Luc of a new technique that might buy him some time, despite Andy's skepticism that the procedure is right for him. Chester makes his decision to have the procedure, which unfortunately results in some dangerous complications. Fortunately, Chester is saved by the joint efforts of Dr. Luc and Andy, and emerges his good-humored, optmistic self...GUEST STAR

[JILL] 22, ostensibly six months pregnant, fiercely independent, a wild girl whose pregnancy has at least gotten her to stop drinking, Jill arrives at the hospital with some minor injuries after a tussle with a security guard at Walmart (where she was shoplifting baby clothes). Stunned to learn at the hospital that she's not pregnant but that she has liver failure (not due to alcoholism) and needs a transplant, Jill rebuffs her boyfriend's genuine vows of commitment to her, clearly uncomfortable with kindness and unconditional love. Later, Jill refuses to be excited when Miranda gets her on a liver transplant list, unwilling to give up drinking or in any other way to compromise the way she chooses to live her life..sptv050769.GUEST STAR

[SANGEON] Early 30s, Korean, female, intelligent, self-possessed, polite, with a wry sense of humor, Sangeon is at Three Rivers for surgery on a ruptured cornea, to be performed by Dr. Anthony. She bonds with David and is amused and touched by his awkward attempts to translate for her and his obvious concern for her. Somewhat frightened about her upcoming surgery, Sangeon is relieved to have David in the OR with her. Afterwards, Sangeon gently rebuffs David's offer to go out to dinner with her, but she does accept a ride to the airport from him...GUEST STAR. MUST SPEAK KOREAN

[BOBBY] Early to mid 20's. Jill's boyfriend, he is actually a sweet and caring young man who is genuinely committed to a relationship with Jill, whether she's pregnant or not. Very understanding of his prickly girlfriend, Bobby promises to stop drinking (just as she did when she thought she was pregnant), and to see her through her upcoming health battles...POSSIBLE GUEST STAR

[DR. ANTHONY] This ophthalmologist asks David to help translate for his new patient, a Korean woman (Sangeon) with a ruptured cornea who speaks very little English. Dr. Anthony misunderstands an aspect of Korean tact that David clears up for him, and later waits to start the surgery until David can come in to comfort Sangean...POSSIBLE 1-DAY GUEST STAR
