NBC has decided not to order any more episodes of freshman medical drama "Trauma."

The move makes room for the return of "Chuck" to Monday nights next year, where it will be paired with "Heroes."

NBC plans to continue airing the show for now, and will produce all 13 episodes from its current order (meaning the show will likely finish its run). After that, production on the show will shut down.

NBC recently picked up full seasons of "Mercy," "Community" and "Parks & Recreation." Though modestly rated, the pickups give NBC some stability to its schedule and allow the shows some room to grow.

"Trauma" was pegged as NBC's most expensive new fall series and has been on the bubble since its debut. A recent ratings rise and NBC scheduling additional episodes during November sweeps lent some hope the show might earn a pickup.
