Sidelined to a desk after being diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and put on meds, homicide detective MAGGIE BIRD is not so easily caged...
[GABE DESIDERIO] Gabe is an ex-cop in his 40s, committed to keeping his life trouble free since he dodged a bullet five years ago. In fact, it was his partner, Maggie, who took the bullet, saving his life. Now, no longer interested in defending the peace, he runs a small private detective agency, guilt-tripped into giving Maggie a job. He knows he owes Maggie big-time, but he wants to maintain a good relationship with the cops, seriously unhappy when, on her first day, she puts that trust in jeopardy...SERIES REGULAR (13)
[DETECTIVE BILLY SWAN] In his late 20s to early 30s, African-American, handsome, with a soft, easy charm that masks a darker, more conflicted soul, he is a homicide detective, married to Maggie for a brief but intense seven weeks. Clearly still emotionally connected to Maggie, but wary of her irrational neediness and bipolar episodes, he is now living with the more stable, but perhaps not so compelling Regina...SERIES REGULAR (2)
[LT. ED ERLICH] Is 45-55, hard-working and, in his own mind, seriously under-appreciated, he is Maggie's boss, a stolid, strong, capable sort who, unflinchingly, gives Maggie the news that she'll be working a desk job after her psychotic episode. Unwilling to put his other detectives in danger, he tells an outraged Maggie that, while she may be a brilliant cop, she puts everyone around her at risk. Even so, it's obvious Lt. Erlich admires Maggie, and is even amused by her at all times..sptv050769.SERIES REGULAR (11)
[DR. NOAH BRACHMAN] In his late 20s to early 30s, an enthusiastic young doctor, full of intelligence and hope. He evaluates Maggie who has been brought to the psych ward after a full-on episode. He's clearly impressed with Maggie's quick humor and self-awareness. Later, however, after Maggie fails to show for an appointment, he leaves her an urgent message, reminding her that she does not have the authority to investigate a certain case. He does understand that the disease can make her feel empowered, more focused, more in control, but that insight comes at a great price...SERIES REGULAR 10/13 (4)
