    Grey's Anatomy - Premiere Details

Thanks to Gio Gio from FanForum for this little teaser after they had watched the screener for the first hour of Season 6.

After watching the first episode of Grey's Anatomy (the first hour at least), I can confirm what virtually everyone in the cast had been telling - or warning - us: it's going to be a very dark season. And why not, George (T.R. Knight) is gone, and while creator Shonda Rhimes appeared like she did everything in her power to ease up the viewers to a George-less Grey's Anatomy, it just wouldn't work. Because while there are fans who may not have liked George, in Seattle Grace, everybody liked him. Just how loved George was will be made clear on how people will react to his death.

But let's not spill too much, shall we?

Some details. There will be: a severed arm, a harrowingly short and strange funeral scene (you'll know what I mean with the strange part after watching it, trust me), an appearance by George's mom, talk about George's man-part, and people reacting in strange, strange ways to his death. While there were those who did the requisite crying and staring into space, Grey's Anatomy fans should watch out for the more pronounced reactions, including one or two life-changing ones. In short, the episode will be all about George, and rightly so.

Meanwhile, the person who is probably the least affected with George's passing gets her own storyline. Arizona (newly regularized Jessica Capshaw) will try to do her job while virtually everyone around her is still reeling from what happened. As seen on one of the promos, there is also the matter of the Chief (James Pickens, Jr.) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in talks over the whole taking over the chief of surgery position - but maybe "in talks" is too soft a term.

On a final note, to me, the talk between George's mom and one of the surgeons proved to be one of the more heart-breaking scenes in an episode that in itself is heartbreaking enough. But don't take my word for it. Catch Grey's Anatomy when it returns on September 24 on ABC.
