The best comedy nobody knows about was back yesterday and I'm sorry to say that it was kind of disappointing. It definitely ranks as one of the weaker episodes in terms of the plot and premise in general, but it still had some good laughs. If you want to watch a couple episodes to get a feel of the show, I recommend Racial Sensitivity and You Are the Boss of Me.
This week, the main story revolved around Veronica and Ted's relationships with their fathers. Veronica's father is the CEO of a rival company who steals her product ideas and Ted's father only wanted him to be a plumber. We learn that Linda and Phil both have great relationships with their parents while Lem's father died when he was 3, but nothing really comes of this story.
Veronica learns that her father will die within a year and decides to bond with him. There are a couple hilarious scenes of them "throwing" a frisbee and "flying" a kite. Phil and Lem come up with a hair-growing formula after making a failed wrinkle remover abd Ted wants to ram it through and come up with a product without the proper procedure, but they refuse, standing up to Ted for the first time.
Ted tests it on himself to disastrous results with hair growing all over his arm as well as his desk. I was totally creeped out by hair thought it was kind of funny. Ted wanted the product to work so he could finally please his bald father by providing him something useful. Eventually, Veronica realizes the relationship with her father isn't really working, and they go back to what they do best, stealing product ideas. She leaves the hair growth on her desk, sure that he would take it, wasting millions of dollars.
This episode also brought back Ted's adorable daughter Rose who was going to run for class president due to Ted's push. After examining the debacle between him and his father, Ted tells her she doesn't have to run and she can continue making mud pies.
I didn't particularly like the father theme of the episode thought it did have funny stuff about corporate espionage. Linda only had about 10 lines, and the Phil and Lem opposing Ted never really came to anything. I still can't believe how good Portia de Rossi is as Veronica. I can't imagine her delivery to be any better.
Score: 8.5/10
